Golden China Restaurant - Sneads Ferry
About This Spot
Golden China Restaurant sits quietly along Old Folkstone Road in Sneads Ferry, welcoming visitors with a familiar, no-frills comfort that feels like a neighborhood place you might revisit again and again. There’s a gentle hum here — not rushed or flashy, but steady and sincere, the kind of spot where the rhythm follows the simple act of sharing a meal without fuss. It’s the kind of place where you can slide into a booth or pull up a chair, knowing that the next hour will be about enjoying warmth and good company in a setting that’s unpretentious and welcoming.
Inside, the atmosphere reflects the everyday lives of locals seeking something satisfying and steady. The air carries subtle hints of ginger, soy, and a touch of garlic — flavors quietly weaving their way through a menu built around comforting takes on classic Chinese dishes. Whether you’re savoring lo mein that comes laden with tender meats or fresh vegetables, or leaning into dishes with stir-fried beef and broccoli, the experience unfolds like a gentle conversation with familiar flavors and straightforward cooking.
There’s something quietly reassuring in the way orders come out just as expected — a kind of culinary dependability that invites you to relax rather than wonder. The pace is unhurried but attentive, a balance that fits well with the easygoing pace of Sneads Ferry itself. For families on vacation or locals stopping by after a day of work, Golden China offers a place to pause and simply be, with food that feels both familiar and thoughtfully prepared.
Though it’s modest and unassuming, the restaurant holds moments of warmth in its humbleness: a shared order of dumplings that turn into a small celebration, the subtle nod of approval when a dish arrives just right, or the comforting familiarity of fried rice that feels like a home-cooked staple. It’s a reminder that good food doesn’t always have to be complex or trend-driven — sometimes, it just needs to be reliably good and made with care.

Being from NY, I know Chinese food. This is the best Chinese I’ve ever had. They have never disappointed, the order is always correct, always friendly! Highly recommend!

Only decent Chinese food outside of New England Duck sauce packets Lo men isn’t the best. But the rice here is the best one found since moving down here Added an up to date menu since they don’t have a website

My family of 4 vacationed in Sneads Ferry in early July 2025. My husband called and ordered several items, including: beef & broccoli, chicken lo mein, scallops and shrimp meal w/ white rice, fried rice, and wontons (possibly more- it’s been a couple of weeks). We don’t regularly order Chinese food, so we were somewhat apprehensive, but we were satisfied. Calling to order- I had our orders written out with the numbers from the menu. Easy ordering. We were a bit nervous when they didn’t ask a name or number, but I wasn’t cooking another day on vacation. lol Pickup- We were about 6 minutes from the restaurant. Locating it was simple. My husband went in and came right back out with bags of food. He said it looked like many other Chinese places - nothing fancy but hard working people inside. Display- even after driving back to the beach house, getting everything out of bags and getting to apprehensive teens to come to the table- everything looked delicious and was steaming hot. Taste- For a family that doesn’t eat Chinese takeout and only at buffets once or twice a year, this food was good! We ate from it for 3 days. Price- I believe we paid around $50-60. Would recommend.

Great food! Best Steamed Dumplings my husband and I have ever eaten, and we have been alot of places in his 20 year Military career.

Average strip food Chinese takeout. The General Tsos chicken was overcooked, but had a very good flavor. Kung Pao Chicken was excellent, not too saucy and a good balance of ingredients. Boneless spare ribs were pretty tasty. Fried rice was fairly tasteless for having pork in it. I would eat here again if I was craving Chinese takeout.
